Do You Trust The Internet?
If you can’t trust anonymous people on the Internet, who can you trust? According to a recent study, a whopping 98% of Americans distrust information they find online. I for one do not trust the results of this online poll, so I guess you can include me in that 98%. Anyway, here were the top reasons that Americans were so distrustful:
- Too many ads – 59%
- Outdated information – 56%
- Information is self-promotional – 53%
- Unfamiliar forums – 45%
Mashable notes: “The 94% who worried that ‘bad things’ could happen were mostly concerned about wasting their time (67%). Other fears included getting a computer virus (63%), losing money (51%), risk of fraud (51%) and damaging their credibility (36%).”
