Drop Test: iPad v. Nexus 7

As a result of living in the real world you will, without a doubt, absolutely, at some point in time drop your mobile device. If you’re lucky it’ll fall onto carpet. If you’re not so lucky it will hit cement or a hardwood floor. If you’re supremely unlucky it’ll get knocked off a balcony banister and fall more than a story.

So in-the-wild testing should include a drop test. At least, that’s what the folks at SquareTrade think. The third party warranty company has a habit of taking the latest and greatest tech and dropping it from varying heights to see how it holds up. Their most recent test put the entrenched iPad up against hot newcomer the Google Nexus 7 tablet. And this time they took things a step further, dropping the tablets into a filled bathtub.

Who came out on top? You’ll just have to watch this true in-the-wild test to find out!

My Nexus 7 dropped out of my hand while I was in the bathroom (we had my little 5 year old cousin over here..yeah, I think you can guess the rest ;) ). It hit the wall and fell to the ground. I thought the screen was cracked and my time with android was over. NOPE! Just a little nick in the right hand corner. Doesn’t affect functionality and it’s smaller than the tip of a finger.

If the same thing happened to my iPad (like it did my iPod Touch), ten the screen would have cracked.

Goes to show you Google > Apple.
